I love the idea of integrity being about alignment because it focuses in on integrity as a personal attempt to reflect the truth of who I am. The morality angle makes it external and not really about me at all. Am I making sense? (It’s very late.) Anyway, interesting vlog again, Kimberlee.
Thanks, Erica! You made perfect sense! And I appreciate you commenting in general and for rooting me on… thank you!
i substitute taught in public schools for four years in college, and when the teacher didnt leave me instructions, i would write the word integrity on the board. i would ask the students to join me in a discussion. i laugh at it now as i am sure they thought i was a joke, but the word has always captured me.
i.n.t.e.g.r.i.t.y.
maybe i just like the way it sounds. or maybe i like that the authenticity that comes with it makes me feel more alive. the word to me means that you are who you say you are. but in that, you choose others before yourself. you don’t just act based on feelings but based on others. doing whats ‘right’ is also what it means to me, but i realize that everyone has different ‘rights’ so i take it back. its not about being ‘right’.
im bad with words so maybe i will just describe a person who has the quality. i think its not necessarily ‘know who you are’ but ‘accept who you are and embrace it’. there is a sense of self-worth that comes along with this word. embrace the uniqueness, the craziness, the actions, the mistakes, the joys and then accept them in others. integrity.
for most of my life, outside of work, i believe I am in my integrity. its trying to fill in that last slot, the work slot, that is a bit difficult.
am i acting now? no.
am i pursuing it like i should? no.
am i doing everything i possibly can to be noticed? no
do i want to do it? yea
its a pisser, i tell ya.
Jen, I like your play of right. And I like the connection between integrity and self-worth, a lot.
Cesar, I didn’t know you were an actor. I mean, I guess why would I? I hope you do it! I hope you align. I bet it will make you happy.
