Bill O’Reilly Is Going To Apologize To Courtney–Isn’t He?

Courtney on The O’Reilly Factor:

At the end of the segment, Bill promises to apologize to Courtney if she can show she publicly defended Sarah Palin. It turns out, our equal-opportunity feminist did. Email Bill if you want to hear an apology.

Just to stir up the pot for a moment though, I have sympathy for Bill. Which is to say, if I were at a party of him and he did an impression of Helen Thomas like that, I might laugh. Just like if I was at a party with Michael Phelps, I might have done a bong hit with him. Actions and words that are fine in the private eye take on an entirely different shape in the public one.

And to another one of his points, Courtney defended Palin in public, but did the Women’s Media Center? We all remember their touching video on sexism in the media highlighting attacks on Hillary. Was there any kind of effort around Palin? I’m asking, ’cause I don’t know. If not, I think Bill’s hypocrisy charge might have something to it (again, on the WMC, not Court).

Courtney – you were great – a real Woodhull women. I e-mailed Bill. So did my husband. Looking forward to viewing the apology.

  4. Great job Courtney! I NEVER watch that show but when I heard you were on, we tuned in.

I agree with the others, you more than held your own.

I don’t think OReilly ever apologizes to anyone but maybe this will be a first.

I am forwarding this link on to others.

Court, You did so well with the 6 minutes he ever gives anyone. He cut you off at just about every sentence, and you were wonderfully fierce in cutting him back off. Amazing. If only he knew how much you did, in fact, speak up about the injustice being done to Palin, or any woman in politics being harangued or judged for her clothes, skin, lipstick, age, voice, …… For all the criticism of George Bush, I don’t think (correct me if I’m wrong) anyone ever commented on his tie, hairdo, or graying hair.

  7. Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate the support! I told Bill’s producer that I prefer lilies to roses.

  8. Clayton says:

Where can i see when you defended Palin? Until then you dont deserve a apology,

  9. Hi Clayton — maybe the links in this post didn’t show up on your computer? Otherwise you would have clearly seen that Courtney defended Palin several times — even against Bill O’Reilly himself.

Oh, and now that you’ve really read this post, here’s where you can tell Bill that he was wrong:

I hate to say this but we progressives were a lot quicker to jump on sexism committed by Republicans than committed by fellow progressives or who we pereceived were allies in the campaign- I mean, yeah feministing spoke out about sexism against Palin, but it was only when McCain or O’Reilly was the perpetrator. It allows blowhards like O’Reilly to have a point and to defend his indefensible behavior when there’s absolutely no reason for him to.

  11. [...] to everyone for your support with ol’ O’Reilly. I’ve been getting a lot of wonderful feedback about my “courage” to go up [...]
